We are currently enjoying a long weekend in Sanibel, Florida trying to take advantage of the last time that we can travel during the first week in September since Finnegan will be starting preschool on Monday. This is our absolute favorite week of the year to travel – crowds are low, prices go down, and the weather is great in most of the country. Instead of Labor Day, this weekend will represent the unofficial end of summer for us.
We’ve only been here about an hour, but I think we picked a great place to spend our last summer weekend. Finnegan shrieked in sheer delight upon exiting the airport when he noticed the palm trees. He ran around hugging all seven of the palm trees that lined the sidewalk on the way to the car rental desk. The boys also spotted their first wildlife less than 60 seconds after arriving to our cottage – lots of small frogs!
For those in the northern hemisphere, how did you spend your last summer weekend? For those in the southern hemisphere, what do you miss most about summer?
